Whether cosmetic or reconstructive, you’ve made the decision to get a breast augmentation. But the decision process isn’t over. The next step is deciding between silicone and saline implants. There are benefits to both implants; here are a few facts.
Saline implants are put into the body without being inflated, resulting in a small incision. They are then filled with sterile, salt water once in place. If the implant was ever to break, the salt water would not cause harm to your body in any manner. Your body would absord the saline, needing a replacement of the old implant. Saline implants also provide more “projection”, giving you a slightly firmer, more youthful breast look and feel.
Silicone implants are inserted in the body fully inflated, requiring a larger incision area. These implants provide less “projection”, thus lend to a slightly more natural look. If they leak, it can be troublesome.
