As skin ages, it loses its youthful elasticity and deep lines can develop making you look older and more tired. In his New Windsor plastic surgery practice, Dr. Jonathan Fugo offers treatments of Perlane to patients who exhibit severe wrinkles, lines and depressions on their face.
Perlane is similar to the injectableĀ RestylaneĀ in that they both contain hyaluronic acid, which delivers hydration to the skin. By adding volume and hydration to areas of the skin that have developed deep wrinkles, skin appears smoother. Perlane works to restore some of the natural hyaluronic acid that your skin may have lost over time. To target severe wrinkles, Perlane contains larger hyaluronic acid particles than Restylane.
Am I a Candidate for Perlane?
Perlane is an ideal treatment for most patients over 18 years old who have developed deep lines and wrinkles on the face. While Perlane is FDA approved to treat many types of severe wrinkles, Dr. Fugo uses it for:
- nasolabial folds
- marionette lines
- hollow tear trough
- facial contouring
- depressed scars
In your consultation with Dr. Fugo, he will carefully assess your skin and create a unique treatment plan that will target your cosmetic goals.
The Perlane Treatment
Prior to your treatment of Perlane, the skin on your face will be cleansed. Using one of several advanced techniques, Dr. Fugo will carefully inject the appropriate amount of Perlane beneath the surface of your skin at the wrinkle site. This will yield an immediate correction of the depression. For an ideal result, Dr. Fugo will likely massage the treatment site gently with his handāthis more evenly places the product.
Perlane Aftercare and Results in New Windsor, NY
Following your treatment, it is not uncommon to experience some swelling and redness at the treatment site. These are both temporary, however. You will be given aftercare instructions which will ask you to avoid strenuous activity and alcohol for 24 hours. After this time, you can return to your regular routine.
The skin smoothing effects of your Perlane treatment may last up to a year. During this time, the treated wrinkles will be greatly diminished. Over time, your body will naturally break down the Perlane solution and you will likely want to return to Dr. Fugo for touch-up treatments.
