When thinking liposuction, most people think about the process: a small incision in the desired area, followed by inserting a hollow tube (cannula) through the small incision. The tube is then used to suction fat deposits out of the body with a surgical vacuum. This form of liposuction is done for people looking to sculpt small areas or remove large volumes of fat.
As this is a great way to get your liposuction procedure done, there are some downsides to it. Anesthesia of some type must be used during the procedure. When the doctor has decided that the correct amount of fat has been removed, the incision is closed. The procedure relies on your inherent skin elasticity to “rebound” and contract, which gives you your ultimate result. Liposuction alone isn’t the right choice for areas with significant excess skin.
In almost all circumstances, Traditional Liposuction is the right decision. Contact Dr. Fugo to find out if you’re an appropriate candidate for this procedure. (845) 565-7040
