How to Prepare for Breast Augmentation

A happy young woman with brown wavy hair and a floral blouse raises her fists and smiles with her eyes closed against a pink backgroundIf you’ve decided to get breast augmentation surgery, there are a few different ways you can prepare for the procedure to help ensure a smooth recovery. Preparing for the surgery will not only make recovery easier, but also reduce the amount of post-operative pain you experience and lessen the risk of complications. Here are some of the best ways you can prepare for your breast augmentation.

You Will Need Someone With You

While breast surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure, you will be extremely sleepy afterwards due to the anesthesia. As a result, you will not be able to drive yourself home and you will need someone with you for your first full night home. Ask a spouse, friend, or family member to drive you home from your procedure and monitor you for at least 24 hours.

Setup Your Recovery Space

During recovery, you will need to rest as much as possible. For this reason, it is best to keep anything you need next to your bed so that it is within reach. This includes water, snacks, tissues, entertainment, and your phone. Don’t forget to grab extra batteries for your TV remote or a charger for your phone.

Prepare Meals Ahead of Time

Before you go into your surgery, try to prepare some nutritious meals for at least the first week or so of recovery. Meals high in vitamins and minerals will assist your body in the healing process, so try to incorporate fruits and vegetables in each meal. Some patients do this by cooking the meals and putting them in the freezer so they can easily be microwaved later.

Find Loose Clothing to Wear

To reduce strain on your breasts, try to wear loose clothing that is easy to take on and off both on the day of your procedure and during recovery.
