Do I need an Eyelid Lift, a Brow Lift, both?

brow lift surgery candidate

Many of our New York clients come into our office discouraged by new wrinkles, lines, and sagging skin of the forehead and eyelids. They’re looking to Dr. Fugo for a solution. A number of these same clients have searched the internet trying to figure out what can help, but the information can often be overwhelming. Perhaps you are in this position—not sure if a plastic surgery procedure like a brow lift is right for you and your concerns. Dr. Fugo and his team completely understand the confusion of trying to find the correct procedure. Let’s take a closer look at who is likely to benefit from a brow lift at Dr. Fugo Plastic Surgery.

What Is a Brow Lift?

A brow lift (also called a forehead lift) is a surgical procedure that helps rejuvenate your look by reducing the appearance of aging. Brow lift surgery is performed by Dr. Fugo using 2-4 small incisions placed in the hairline, allowing removal of excess, sagging skin from the forehead area, while repositioning the remaining skin and muscles into a more aesthetically appropriate position. The end result of a brow lift done correctly is a smooth, youthful forehead with a slightly lifted brow. “The goal for all of my patients is to look years younger, be free from the need for ongoing injectable treatments, while looking completely natural. A brow lift should never be overdone. No patient wants to have that ‘surprised’ look on their face indefinitely”. Our clients rave that they look years younger and more awake after receiving a brow lift.

Am I A Candidate For A Brow Lift?

A brow lift can be a very exciting procedure, but it isn’t for everyone. Dr. Fugo understands that trying to figure out if you are a good candidate can be difficult, so here are a few guidelines to alleviate those concerns. You may be a good candidate for a brow lift if the following could describe you:

  • Healthy individual
  • Non-smoker
  • Are bothered by the inability to see your upper eyelids or notice your upper eyelid makeup
  • Have deep forehead lines, wrinkles, and furrows
  • Have a heavy or low eyebrow line

What If That Doesn’t Describe Me?

If none of those symptoms sound “just right” then perhaps another procedure would be a better fit for you. If you are more concerned with visibility and sagging skin coming from the upper eyelids, then eyelid surgery (or blepharoplasty) may be an option for you. This procedure is less invasive and can be done in-office without the need for general anesthesia.

Perhaps you are looking for a procedure that addresses the entire face. In that case, we may recommend combining procedures, such as a facelift at Dr. Fugo’s practice. We also know that there are others who want to improve forehead lines and wrinkles, but aren’t in need of a surgical procedure. For those men and women, we may recommend one of the injectables that we offer (such as Dysport®) all of which can help soften those signs of aging.

It’s important to keep in mind that each and every patient is uniquely different. If you are looking into several treatments that you think you may benefit from, don’t feel pressured. Before making that decision, consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. Dr. Fugo and our knowledgeable team will work closely with you to help create a custom treatment plan for you to achieve youthful, fresh results.
